HENRY COUNTY, Va. (BTW21) — A traffic stop conducted by the Henry County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Interdiction Unit on June 11, 2025, resulted in a significant narcotics seizure and three arrests, including a suspect who briefly fled while in handcuffs.
Deputies stopped a vehicle in the AutoZone parking lot on Virginia Avenue after confirming that the driver, Ronald Edwards Jr., was operating the vehicle with a revoked license.
As deputies approached, they observed Edwards and the front seat passenger, Zachary Denny, attempting to switch seats, raising immediate suspicion.
A K-9 unit was deployed and alerted positively to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered numerous bags containing suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, unidentified pills, a digital scale, and packaging materials commonly associated with drug distribution.
Field tests confirmed the presence of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
When deputies informed Edwards he was under arrest, he fled on foot—despite being in handcuffs—crossing Virginia Avenue.
He was quickly apprehended by deputies.

The following individuals were charged:
