PATRICK COUNTY – A tractor-trailer containing lard went up in flames in Patrick County on Thursday.
Fire crews from around the county are working to contain the blaze that occurred on Jeb Stuart Highway at around 11:30 AM.
According to the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department, a combination of hot brakes and long steep grades were the cause of the fire.
Flaggers are directing traffic through the incident scene.
Volunteer fire department from Patrick Springs, Woolwine, Fairystone, and Moorefield Store are working the tractor-trailer fire.
The sheriff's office, state police, CCDF Fire and Rescue, Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad, and Patrick County Fire & EMS are assisting at the scene.
All East lanes are closed.
