MARTINSVILLE, Va. (BTW21) — The Martinsville Police Department has announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in August.

The incident unfolded on August 12, 2025, when officers responded to reports of a large disturbance in the 500 block of Forest Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found 39-year-old Crystal Galloway Jordan, a Martinsville resident, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

She was transported to SOVAH Martinsville Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Following weeks of investigation, detectives pieced together evidence and conducted numerous interviews.

Authorities revealed that a large group had planned to confront and assault a smaller group of local residents.

The altercation escalated violently when firearms were drawn and fired, ultimately leading to Jordan's death. In the aftermath of the initial inquiry, eleven individuals were charged with malicious wounding by mob.

Further investigation led to the identification of three key suspects, who were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Nashawn Lee Corbett, Micah Aaron Holmes, and Kwaheim Zaquon Hairston are currently being held without bond.

“This was an extremely complex case with many people involved,” said Martinsville’s acting Police Chief Chad Rhoads. “Our investigators worked tirelessly to solve this case. We also owe a great deal to the Danville Police Department, the Virginia State Police and the US Marshals Service for their assistance in the investigation and apprehension of all these suspects. And also, this is a case where the community came forward with information that led to identifying the individuals involved in the attack.”

Police have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Lieutenant Richard Barrow can be contacted at (276) 403-5458, or tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (276) 63CRIME (276-632-7463). Informants may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.

The case remains under investigation as law enforcement works to uncover all the facts surrounding this tragic event.
