MARTINSVILLE, VA – Attention coffee lovers! The Ground Floor has officially opened up to ensure you are properly caffeinated.
It’s all brewing in the historic Holt Building, 1 East Church Street in Uptown Martinsville.
The Ground Floor owner Josh Blancas says opening up his own coffee shop has been a dream of his for over 10 years.
“As long as I can remember, I've had an affinity for coffee. I say my focus on coffee really started in college. In my college days, I got into coffee more as a necessity, but really started to focus on the different variables that you can change with coffee to tweak it slightly and get really incredible flavors out of it,” he said.
The specialty coffee shop offers a variation of espresso-based drinks, loose-leaf teas and a general store. The general store has specialty grocery items, leather goods, paper goods and retail coffee equipment.
Blancas says his focus on creating a community gathering place sets his coffee shop apart from others in the area.
“The focus of our shop is creating that community gathering place, because at the end of the day, people are what matter more than anything on this planet. Coffee is not the goal. People are the goal. Community is the goal. Coffee is just the vehicle to get there,” Blancas stated.
Their hours will initially be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They will be closed on Sunday.
