Man arrested, charged after Bassett woman is shot in the head



BASSETT, VA – A man has been arrested and charged after a Bassett woman was shot in the head on Saturday.


Around 11:58 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff's Office responded to call that a woman had been shot at 83 Blossom Street in Bassett.


Deputies say when they arrived on scene, 46-year-old Brenda Sue Turner, of that address, was alert and coherent with a gunshot wound to the head.  

Turner was air lifted to the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to investigators, an altercation occurred between Turner and 57-year-old Sanford Gregory Millner, who also lives at that address.

Millner was arrested for felony charges of malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is being held in the Henry County Jail with no bond.

This incident remains under investigation.
