Suspect's identity sought after robbery of Henry County Food Lion

HENRY COUNTY – The identity of a man is being sought after the robbery of a Henry County Food Lion on Saturday.


At approximately 8:56 PM, an unknown African American man entered the store at 8500 A.L. Philpott Highway in Martinsville, approached a cashier and demanded money. 


According to the victim, the suspect gestured as if he had a weapon, but did not display one.


The sheriff's office says the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from the register drawer and fled running towards A.L. Philpott Highway.


He was wearing dark colored clothing, a blue bandana, is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds, authorities said.


The sheriff’s office is requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the individual involved in this robbery.


Anyone having information regarding the identity and whereabouts of this individual is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (276-632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
