Suspect robbed Henry County convenience store employee at gunpoint




The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a robbery that occurred during the early morning hours of October 27, 2021. The incident occurred at Fas Mart located at 5972 A. L. Philpott Hwy., Martinsville, Virginia at approximately 12:56 am. The suspect entered the store, produced a firearm and demanded money. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the scene. The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a black hoodie with a yellow and white design, blue latex gloves, and a face covering.

Moments later, a Virginia State Police Trooper observed a vehicle traveling East on A.L. Philpott Hwy. at a high rate of speed. The Trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued. As the vehicle was being pursued it lost control and crashed at the intersection of Whispering Pines and Sugar Tree Church Road in Pittsylvania County. Three male subjects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Commander was stolen from Danville, VA on October 22, 2021. Evidence from the robbery was recovered from inside of the vehicle.

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A man wearing a black face mask robbed a convenience store in Henry County.


The Henry County Sheriff's Office was called to the FasMart on AL Philpott Highway at 1:04 a.m. Wednesday for the armed robbery.

According to radio traffic, an African-American male entered the convenient store, held an employee at gunpoint and robbed money from the register.


The victim said the suspect run away from the store.


Virginia State Police was responding and noticed that a vehicle was leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.


The trooper was able to catch up to the vehicle after a reported crash.


There were a total of three male subjects inside the vehicle.


Two fled on foot and it is unclear if the other male was detained or arrested.


It has not been confirmed if these two incidents are related.


The Martinsville Police Department also responded.
