Suspect Arrested Following Armed Robberies in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA —(BTW21) On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Martinsville Police Department responded to two related armed robberies that occurred within minutes of each other.
The first robbery was reported at 5:49 p.m. at a business in the 600 block of East Church Street.
Just over 15 minutes later, at 6:06 p.m., a second robbery occurred at a separate business in the 1100 block of South Memorial Boulevard.
In both incidents, a white male suspect entered the establishments, brandished a weapon, and demanded money from employees before fleeing the scene in a red vehicle.
Thanks to surveillance footage from the businesses and information obtained through Flock camera technology, investigators were able to identify the suspect vehicle.
The Patrick County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle at a residence on Spring Road in Patrick Springs.
Deputies from Patrick County arrested Alvin Hurley, 53, of Patrick Springs, in connection with the robberies.
He has been charged with two counts of Armed Robbery and is currently being held at the Patrick County Jail without bond.
