State Police Investigate Deadly Moped Wreck in Alleghany County

CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (BTW21) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal moped crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Clifton Forge.
The incident took place on July 2 at approximately 12:37 p.m. on Jefferson Street, near the intersection with Kensington Avenue.
According to authorities, a 2024 JDMC Vino 50 moped was traveling southbound when it veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The impact ejected the driver from the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Brandon Justice Taylor, 36, of Clifton Forge, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
He was transported to LewisGale Hospital Alleghany, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Virginia State Police confirmed the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
This marks yet another tragic loss on Virginia roadways, highlighting the risks faced by riders of smaller, less protected vehicles like mopeds and scooters.
Authorities have not released additional information at this time.
