Sheriff: Bassett family charged for multiple crimes committed in past few months

French Bailey, Jessica Bailey and Jamie Bailey

BASSETT, VA – A Bassett family has been arrested and charged following an investigation of multiple crimes committed over the last few months.

Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said numerous break-ins occurred in 8 different locations on Spring Road, Microfilm Road, Hollandsworth Drive and Abram Penn Highway prompting an investigation by his office.

Household items, tools, and collectibles, valued at several thousand dollars, were the main items stolen, and some of the property has been recovered, according to Smith.

“All of our investigators have been working diligently to bring resolution for the victims,” the Sheriff said, adding “a great deal of work goes in to building each case; from gathering evidence, writing search warrants and interviewing suspects, it is a time intensive process.”

32-year-old French Andrew Bailey, of 6243 Stones Dairy Road in Bassett, 34-year-old Jessica Renee Bailey, of the same address, and 30-year-old Jamie Bailey, of 66 Spruce Pine Drive in Bassett, have all been charged with multiple counts of felony breaking and entering, grand larceny and misdemeanor petit larceny.

All three are being held in the Patrick County Jail.

French and Jamie are being held without bail and Jessica is being held on a $5,000 secured bond.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the ongoing investigation and more charges are forthcoming.
