MARTINSVILLE, VA –(BTW21) Sheila G. Clark, a longtime public servant with nearly three decades of experience in the City of Martinsville Treasurer’s Office, has officially announced her candidacy for Treasurer in the upcoming November 4th election.
In a formal statement, Clark emphasized her deep-rooted commitment to the community and her extensive qualifications for the role.
With 29 years of service in the Treasurer’s Office, she has held multiple responsibilities, including serving in the absence of the Treasurer—a role that has provided her with substantial institutional knowledge and hands-on experience.
“I am honored to formally announce my candidacy for Treasurer of the City of Martinsville,” Clark said. “This office has been my professional home for nearly three decades, and I am passionate about continuing to serve our community with integrity, transparency, and dedication.”
Clark holds the Master Governmental Deputy Treasurer certification, earned through a rigorous 15-year continuing education program with the Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia.
Her professional background is comprehensive, covering critical functions such as daily payment processing, reconciliation of bank statements, staff supervision, state and local auditing coordination, billing and collection of real estate and personal property taxes, and collections.
Beyond her work at City Hall, Clark has also been a part-time employee at Kroger for nearly 15 years, further demonstrating her strong work ethic and community involvement.
She earned her degree in Business Administration from Averett College.
She and her husband, Gene Clark, have been proud residents of Martinsville for over 20 years.
“As Treasurer, I will continue to uphold the trust of Martinsville’s residents through responsible fiscal stewardship and open, honest communication,” she said. “I respectfully ask for your support and your vote on November 4th. Together, let’s continue building a stronger Martinsville.”
