Several people were taken to the hospital following a crash in Ridgeway




A three-vehicle crash in Ridgeway resulted in multiple people being transported to the hospital.


The incident occurred Monday on Greensboro Road near the on-ramp to William F. Stone Highway.


The Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department and the Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene at 2:01 p.m.


According to Virginia State Police, the driver of a tractor-trailer headed northbound on Greensboro Road was paying attention to the traffic lights when it rear-ended a Nissan Altima, which then crashed into the back of a Lincoln MKX.


The four occupants of the Nissan were taken to Sovah Health-Martinsville.


State police said two adults were taken to be checked out and two children were taken with injuries.


They could not advise the extent of those injuries.


The collision remains under investigation.
