Rockingham County Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges Following Alleged Domestic Abduction and Assault

MAYODAN, NC – A Mayodan man has been arrested on several felony charges, including first-degree kidnapping, after a reported domestic abduction involving assault and firearm threats on October 29, 2025.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a possible abduction by force after a concerned individual reported that her friend was being held against her will at a residence on Ellis Road in Mayodan.
Deputies, along with officers from the Mayodan Police Department, quickly arrived at the scene, where they made contact with a white male who identified himself as Michael Warren Serdar, 40, of Mayodan.
Based on the initial information provided by the reporting person, Serdar was immediately detained. Deputies then made contact with a white female inside the home, who showed signs of physical assault.
She told authorities that Serdar had picked her up from another location earlier in the day, making threats to her and her family if she did not comply with his demands.
The female victim further stated that Serdar had assaulted her and had pointed a firearm at her multiple times, threatening her life. Detective N. Clifton of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office took charge of the investigation shortly after arriving on the scene.
Charges and Arrest
Serdar was arrested and transported to the Rockingham County Magistrates Office, where he was denied bond. He faces a series of serious charges, including:
Felony First-Degree Kidnapping
Felony Possession of Firearm by Felon
Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
Misdemeanor Communicating Threats
Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
Three Counts of Assault by Pointing a Gun
In addition, Serdar was served with two outstanding warrants from Stokes County for Simple Assault and Communicating Threats.
Serdar is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on November 10, 2025.
Investigation and Community Support
The identity of the female victim is being withheld for safety reasons. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault and abduction, with support from Mayodan Police Department, Rockingham County EMS, and Rockingham County 911 Communications.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
