Roanoke Police Charge One Individual in Connection to Shooting that Left Five Injured

The Roanoke Police Department has identified one of the injured individuals involved in a shooting that left five people hurt early Saturday morning.


According to authorities, 40-year-old Donald Leroy Williams has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felonas part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting, which took place around 4:44 a.m. on February 15.


Officers responded to the 4100 block of Melrose Avenue NW after receiving reports of a shooting with injuries.


Upon arrival, they discovered a woman who had sustained gunshot wounds.


She was quickly transported to a local hospital and is being treated for critical injuries.


Shortly after, police were notified of four additional victims seeking medical treatment at nearby hospitals.


Of the four, one woman is also in critical condition, while two men and another woman have non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of the other victims have not been released.


The investigation remains active, and authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
