FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA – A man is dead after an overnight crash.
The crash happened Thursday at 12:35 a.m. on Virgil H. Goode Highway near Doe Run Road.
A 2003 GMC Sonoma was headed north on Virgil H. Goode Highway, when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail.
The driver of the GMC, Cleo Ray Sloan, 71, of Rocky Mount, was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene, according to authorities.
This crash remains under investigation.
