MARTINSVILLE, VA – Are you a visual artist in Martinsville, Henry County or the surrounding area?
If so, you are invited to enter your work into Expressions 2024, an art show hosted by Piedmont Arts and the Lynwood Artists.
This annual showcase will be on display at the museum from June 1 to July 26.
All artwork must be submitted on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Piedmont Arts galleries.
No early or late entries will be accepted, according to a news release.
A reception and award ceremony will be held on Friday, May 31 at 5:30 p.m.
Unlike a juried exhibition, Expressions is open-entry, and all submitted works in compliance with the entry rules are accepted, the release said.
Up to two pieces of art completed within the last two years and not previously submitted may be submitted per artist.
This exhibit is open to anyone within a 100-mile radius of the museum, including high school students in grades 9-12.
Last year, over 100 artists of all ages submitted their work to be displayed.
Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in all mediums.
Other awards include the People’s Choice, the Lynwood Artists Award, and Best in Show.
This year, Jennifer Reis, artist and Assistant Professor of Arts Administration at the University of North Carolina Greensboro will serve as judge for the showcase.
Official rules, forms, and additional information can be found here.

This post does a great job of clearly outlining the opportunity while also conveying genuine enthusiasm for the arts. It’s encouraging to see platforms actively supporting creative voices. I recently read a related discussion on https://www.inspereza.com/ about promoting artistic communities, and your post aligns well with that idea. Very well written and informative for artists considering submission.
