Man killed after car hits guardrail, overturns in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A Martinsville man died in a crash early Sunday morning in Henry County.
Crews were dispatched to the scene of the single-car crash on A.L. Philpott Highway in the vicinity of Evergreen Drive shorty after 2:30 a.m.
According to Virginia State Police, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was going west on A.L. Philpott Highway when it ran off the left side of the road into the median, hit a guardrail and overturned.
The driver, 43-year-old Logan G. Copening, Jr., died at the scene.
State police say Copening was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department, VDOT, and the Henry County Sheriff's Office assisted at the crash site.
The incident remains under investigation.
