Two arrested after 19-year-old is shot in the head in Collinsville

COLLINSVILLE, VA – Two men have been arrested and charged with shooting a 19-year-old in the head after a robbery in Collinsville.


Shortly before 2 a.m. on June 2, the Henry County Sheriff's Office found Mason Wasoski, of Stuart, in his pickup truck suffering from a gunshot wound to the head on S and L Court.


Wasoski was airlifted to a hospital in Roanoke, where he remains in critical condition.


The sheriff’s office said two Martinsville men, 18-year-old Leif Keiglen Rider Hughes, of Sunrise Avenue, and 20-year-old Tymear Rayvonne Thompson, of First Street, planned to rob Wasoski.


During an arranged meeting to buy marijuana from the Stuart teenager, Thompson robbed and shot him before leaving the scene, according to authorities.


Hughes is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated malicious wounding

  • Armed robbery

  • Conspiracy to commit robbery

Thompson is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated malicious wounding

  • Armed robbery

  • 2 counts use of a firearm during the commission of a felony

  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon


Both are currently held in the Henry County Jail without bond.


This investigation is ongoing.
