Woman dies when SUV runs off road and hits tree in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, VA – The Virginia State Police have now released information about the single-vehicle crash that took the life of a woman in Henry County Friday.
At 7:32 p.m., the Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department and the Henry County Department of Public Safety were toned out to the crash in the 1500 block of Joseph Martin Highway.
A 2010 Nissan Xterra was going north on Joseph Martin Highway, when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree, according to the state police report.
Police said the driver, 60-year-old Teresa Smart Milligan, of Axton, was not wearing her seatbelt and died at the scene.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
According to Virginia State Police, Geometry Dash she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The incident highlights the severe consequences of roadway accidents and the importance of using seatbelts to improve safety and reduce the risk of fatal injuries.
