UPDATE: Woman charged after baby left in hot car at Henry County Walmart

HENRY COUNTY – A Martinsville woman was charged after a baby was left in hot car at a Walmart parking lot.


During the course of the investigation all evidence was reviewed with the Commonwealth Attorney and Child Protective Services.


Francis Cabiness Kissee, 62, 316 Inge Dr., Martinsville, Va. was charged with one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (misdemeanor). 


Kissee was arrested on September 16, 2019, and was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond.

HENRY COUNTY – A person broke a window Monday morning in order to save a baby left in a hot car.


At around 11:37 AM deputies arrived at the Walmart on Commonwealth Boulevard and found that a person had broken a window out and removed an infant from the vehicle.


The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says the baby was taken inside the store and was checked by EMS.


The child did not suffer any injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.


Deputies obtained surveillance video from the store security cameras.


After reviewing it, authorities determined the baby was left in the motor vehicle with the engine off for less than 10 minutes.


The temperature in Henry County was around 84 degrees at the time.


This incident remains under investigation.
