Person airlifted for burns after 3 mobile homes catch fire in Collinsville




COLLINSVILLE, VA – Three mobile homes and a car were destroyed in an early morning fire in Collinsville.


Firefighters were called to Ferncreek Drive at 12:12 a.m. on Friday and found three trailers on fire.


Crews also found a person with burns and that person was flown to the hospital, Henry County Fire Marshal Lisa Garrett told BTW21 News at the scene.


The extent of the burn injuries is unknown at this time.


Firefighters were able to contained the blaze to the three mobile homes.


Two other nearby homes had minor damage, according to Garrett.


All residents were able to self-evacuate, but multiple pets remain unaccounted for.


Firefighters pulled out a dog from underneath one of the mobile homes that survived the extreme heat of the blaze.


At least one firefighter was checked out by paramedics for possible heat exhaustion from battling the fires.


The American Red Cross helped the displaced residents with their immediate needs.


The cause of the fire is still under active investigation.
