Pedestrian Killed in Independence Day Crash in Buckingham County

BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (BTW21) — A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Buckingham County on Friday night, prompting an investigation by the Virginia State Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:13 p.m. on Route 20, near the intersection with Glenmore Road.
According to VSP Public Relations Coordinator Matthew Demlein, a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 20 was unable to avoid a pedestrian who was in the roadway.
The victim has been identified as Angela Cook, 42, of Buckingham. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the crash, including whether any charges are expected.
The investigation remains ongoing.
No other injuries were reported.
