Overdose Death in Rockingham County Leads to Arrests

Rockingham County, N.C. –(BTW21) The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals in connection with the overdose death of 46-year-old Thomas Kyle Gibson Jr., following an extensive investigation.
On March 25, 2025, deputies responded to 7691 NC 704 in Madison, where they discovered Gibson deceased.
Evidence at the scene suggested his death resulted from an overdose. Authorities promptly launched an in-depth investigation in collaboration with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office.
Three days later, on March 28, 2025, law enforcement officials charged 31-year-old Allen Joseph Bondurant of Madison, N.C., with Death by Distribution in connection with Gibson’s passing.
Bondurant was also charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell, one count of Sale and Delivery of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and one count of Trafficking Schedule II Controlled Substance.
He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Rockingham County Jail under a $1.5 million secured bond. Bondurant’s court date is set for April 7, 2025.
As the investigation continued, on April 2, 2025, authorities also arrested 62-year-old Bradley Keith Evans of Eden, N.C., in connection with Gibson’s death.
Evans was charged with Death by Distribution and was taken into custody without bond.
His first court appearance is scheduled for April 3, 2025.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to NC Adult Probation and The Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in the case.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
