BASSETT, VA – A 33-year-old man is dead following a three-vehicle crash in Bassett.
The crash occurred Thursday at around 11:25 p.m. in front of the Village Market located in the 6600 block of Fairystone Park Highway.
According to Virginia State Police, a 2006 Toyota Corolla was headed east on Fairystone Park Highway, when it crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Ford Escape, head-on.
State police say the driver of the Toyota, Michael Leon Hall, Jr., of Bassett, was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford was 30-year-old Larry O. Goard, of University Place, Washington.
Goard was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to an area hospital for injuries received in the crash, according to police.
The Salem Division Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist with the crash investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
