Suspect turns himself in after he shot, killed Henry County man

HENRY COUNTY, VA – The suspect of Henry County's first homicide of the year has turned himself in.


At around 1:47 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to Lakewood Park Drive in the Laurel Park community of Henry County.


When deputies arrived, they found the body of 20-year-old Jeremiah Jerron Turner who lived there.


He had been shot multiple times, according to the sheriff’s office.


The investigation shows a man came to the mobile home, Turner allowed him inside and the two men went into a bedroom.


Investigators say after they entered the bedroom, the man shot and killed Turner before leaving the scene.


23-year-old Taylor Paige Thomas, of Axton, is in custody after he turned himself in at the sheriff’s office.

He has been charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, shooting inside of an occupied dwelling and three misdemeanor counts of brandishing a firearm.


Thomas is held in the Henry County Jail without bond.


This investigation is ongoing.
