MARTINSVILLE, VA – Martinsville Chief of Police Rob Fincher has shared more details of a shots fired call that turned into a vehicle pursuit and crash on Friday night.
Police got multiple calls of shots fired in the area of Hugo’s Restaurant and Sports Bar on Bridge Street around 11 p.m.
While officers were on the way to the scene, they got information that a white Chevrolet Camaro may have been involved.
Chief of Police Fincher said officers found the Chevrolet with four juvenile occupants and they recovered a gun.
The juveniles were interviewed and released to their parents.
The possession of the firearm violation is still under investigation, but the juveniles are believed not to have been involved in the shots fired, according to Fincher.
While officers were working that call, another officer saw a white Nissan Altima going the wrong way, and believed it could have possibly been involved in the shooting.
The officer tried to stop the vehicle, a pursuit ensued, and the driver lost control and crashed near Drewry Road.
The driver, Sincere Jamison, 18, of Henry County, was arrested at the scene.
Jamison was charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and felony elude police.
Drugs and three guns were recovered as a result of the chase and crash, Fincher said.
When officers searched the area of Bridge Street near the restaurant, they found a building and a Toyota Corolla that had been hit with a bullet.
No individuals were reported as being struck by any gunfire.
Multiple shell casings were recovered, and all items will be sent to the Commonwealth Division of Forensic Science for testing.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, and the ATF assisted.
