Numerous COVID testing events to be held in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA – The West Piedmont Health District will host a series of events to provide free Polymerase Chain Reaction testing for COVID-19.

The health district says this is to increase availability in response to public demand.

“The PCR test is a diagnostic test recommended for persons who have signs and symptoms of COVID-19 or are asymptomatic with a history of exposure to a COVID-19 case,” explained Dr. Kerry Gateley, District Director.

The events will be held at the Martinsville National Guard Armory parking lot located at 315 Commonwealth Boulevard.

The tests are free of charge and limited to the first 100 people on the following dates:

  • January 19 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm

  • January 26 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm

  • February 2 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm

  • February 9 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm

  • February 16 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm

  • February 23 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm

“Persons with pre-existing health conditions who have signs and symptoms of COVID-19 should seek testing immediately. Also, any person who is asymptomatic, regardless of its vaccination status, and has a history of exposure to COVID-19 case(s) can seek testing,” Gateley added.
