Blacksburg, VA — New details have emerged regarding the officer-involved crash that occurred earlier this week.
According to an updated statement from local authorities, the officer involved in the crash was responding to a structure fire call at the time of the incident.
Key information shared includes:
Emergency Equipment Operational: At the time of the crash, the officer’s emergency lights and siren were fully operational and actively being used during the response.
Traffic Light Status: The traffic light was green in the officer's direction of travel, suggesting that there were no immediate traffic violations contributing to the accident.
Officer's Identity: The name of the officer involved in the crash may be released by the Blacksburg Police Department, should they choose to do so.
Training Records: The department has also indicated that they are prepared to provide the officer’s training history, should it be requested or deemed necessary.
As previously mentioned, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. Once completed, the investigative file will be handed over to the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney's Office for further review and action.
