Massive Drug and Weapons Seizure in Bedford County Leads to Arrest of Suspected Supplier

BEDFORD, Va. – A months-long drug investigation in Bedford County has led to a major narcotics and weapons seizure, as well as the arrest of a man authorities believe to be a key supplier.
On June 26, 2025, members of the James River Regional Drug Task Force, alongside the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Byrnes Street in Goodview.
During the search, investigators seized:
2,041 grams of suspected cocaine
1,000 grams of suspected heroin
1,000 grams of fentanyl
283 grams of suspected methamphetamine
56 grams of suspected crack cocaine
The combined estimated street value of the narcotics is approximately $440,000. Authorities also confiscated 10 handguns, three AR-15 rifles, and one shotgun.
The investigation began in November 2024, focusing on the distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine in Bedford County.
Investigators identified 36-year-old Justin Antwan Berger as the suspected primary supplier.
On August 20, 2025, the United States Marshals Service arrested Berger at his residence in Bedford County.
He was wanted on charges stemming from the June 26 search warrant.
Berger is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail on multiple charges, including eluding police, distribution of Schedule I/II narcotics, and firearms offenses.
The James River Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Virginia State Police, Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Bedford Police Department, Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, Buena Vista Police Department, Lexington Police Department, and Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.
