MARTINSVILLE, VA – King’s Grant Retirement Community in Martinsville says they were notified Friday that an employee in the Lacy Health Care Center tested positive for COVID-19.
“While we anticipated this day may come, we are grateful that our aggressive and proactive approaches have prevented the virus from entering our campus before now,” said president & CEO of Sunnyside Communities, Josh Lyons.
According to King’s Grant, the employee was not symptomatic at work and has limited exposure to residents.
The employee has not worked at the facility since May 29 and is at home in self-isolation.
Earlier Friday and prior to the confirmed case, the facility participated in the Point Prevalence Survey as recommended by the department of health.
All employees and residents known to have been in direct contact with the employee were tested and results are expected next week.
King’s Grant says a department of health representative was on-site when they received notification of the positive case and was able to provide immediate guidance.
