Martinsville police seeking leads after man is shot during alleged home invasion

MARTINSVILLE, VA – The Martinsville Police Department is seeking leads after man was shot during an alleged home invasion Saturday.


At around 2:10 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Fourth Street for a person who had been shot.


The victim, Keland Oneal Shelton, told police that an armed man kicked in his back door and started shooting.


According to Shelton, the armed man's face was partially covered with a mask when he entered his home and shot him.


Police say the suspect ran from the scene after the shooting.


Shelton was taken to Sovah Health-Martinsville and then was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.


The case is still under investigation and police say no further information will be given at this time.
