Martinsville police seeking leads after man is shot during alleged home invasion



MARTINSVILLE, VA – On January 23, 2021 at approximately 2:10 pm, the Martinsville Police Department responded to the 700 block of Fourth Street in reference to an individual who had been shot.


The victim, Keland Oneal Shelton, reported that an armed man kicked in his back door and started shooting.


The armed individuals face was partially covered with a mask when he entered Shelton’s home and shot him.


The suspect ran from the scene after the shooting.


Shelton was transported to SOVAH Martinsville and then air lifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.


The case is still under investigation and police say no further information will be given at this time.


The Martinsville Police Department is seeking any additional information about the incident.


Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Durham at 276-403-5330 or Crime Stoppers at 276-632-7463. Information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspect(s) in this case are eligible for up to $2,500.00 in reward money.
