MARTINSVILLE, VA – Two grandparents are facing child neglect charges after a 5-year-old child was found alone in Martinsville.
Friday at around 8 a.m., the Martinsville Police Department responded to Roy Street in reference to a lost child.
Residents on that street located the child outside, barefooted, and in her pajamas. They told police they had never seen her in the neighborhood.
After several hours of searching the area, police and the child protective services unit from the local department of social services were able to locate the family.
The child's grandparents, Teresa Hill and Robert Underwood, were charged with felony child neglect.
Hill is being held with no bond and Underwood has a $3,000 secured bond.
Both are being held at the Martinsville City Jail.
