Martinsville Police Investigate Early-Morning Stabbing at Apartment Complex

Martinsville, VA — Martinsville police are investigating a stabbing that took place early Sunday morning following a disturbance at a local apartment complex.
According to the Martinsville Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7 a.m. to the Martinsville Lofts, located at 900 Rives Road, after receiving reports of a disturbance involving two individuals.
When officers arrived, they found that an altercation between two adult males had escalated, resulting in one person being injured with a knife.
Police said the victim sustained a minor cut to the cheek and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The injury was not believed to be life-threatening.
One individual has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Authorities indicated that the altercation appears to have been confined to the two people involved, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Martinsville Fire & EMS also responded to the scene to assist with medical care.
Charges are pending as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police officials stated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
