MARTINSVILLE – The Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) has once again awarded the certificate of accreditation to the Martinsville Police Department.
This is the police department's sixth consecutive award since originally becoming accredited in 1998.
According to VLEPSC, accreditation increases the law enforcement agency’s ability to prevent and control crime through more effective and efficient delivery of law enforcement services to the community it serves.
Accreditation through VLEPSC requires adherence to 190 standards and proof of compliance to those standards by means of a thorough three-day on-site assessment by trained professionals from other agencies.
