MAN WANTED AFTER HALIFAX COUNT CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBERY

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. — Authorities are searching for a man accused of robbing a convenience store in Halifax County on Sunday, August 2.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded alongside the South Boston Police Department and Virginia State Police to Smiley’s Convenience Store on Bill Tuck Highway around 1 p.m.
Investigators said the man entered the store wearing a black hat, white shirt and black shorts. During the robbery, he allegedly used a black shirt to cover his face and demanded money from the clerk.
Authorities said the man did not display a weapon. He left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Corporal Moore and K-9 Maddy tracked the man’s path from the store. Investigators believe he entered a waiting vehicle and left the area. A silver Cadillac has been identified as a possible vehicle of interest.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, has surveillance or dash-camera footage, or knows anything about the robbery is asked to contact Sergeant T.W. Bush at (434) 476-3339.
