Man taken to hospital after being thrown from motorcycle in Axton

AXTON, VA – A motorcyclist was injured Sunday when involved in a crash in Axton.

The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. on Mountain Valley Road in the vicinity of Mountain Valley Brewing.

Authorities said the biker was traveling north near a curve when he ran off the road and came to rest in front of a wire fence.

The male victim was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to radio traffic.

He was transported by Henry County Public Safety paramedics to Sovah Health in Martinsville.

Members of the Axton Community Fire Department maintained traffic control at the scene.

Virginia State Police is investigating the incident.
