Man stabbed his father to death, killed himself, Henry County Sheriff says


AXTON ,VA – A Henry County father and son are dead after an apparent murder-suicide, according to Sheriff Wayne Davis.


Authorities were called to the 200 block of Sharon Drive in Axton about multiple deceased individuals Sunday at around 5:14 p.m.


Sheriff Davis said when deputies arrived, they found Roger McGuire, 69, and Luke McGuire, 31, dead inside the home.


The preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation took place between the men.


Luke stabbed his father, Roger, multiple times and then gained access to a firearm and took his own life, according to the Sheriff.

The bodies were transported to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.


At this time, the investigation remains open and is ongoing regarding any potential motive, Sheriff Davis said.
