Man sought for stealing cash register during armed robbery at Sparky’s in Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA – The Martinsville Police Department has shared photos and the description of a man who stole a cash register from Sparky’s Food Store in Martinsville on Sunday night.


Police were called to the convenience store located at 604 Starling Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.


Photos release by Martinsville Police show the suspect as being an African-American man in a black hooded sweatshirt wearing a red bandana over his face.


The suspect entered the store, pointed his gun at the store owner and demanded money, according to authorities.


After a brief struggle with the owner, the suspect grabbed the cash register and fled from the store in a dark colored vehicle, police said.


No one was hurt during the incident.

Crime Stoppers is an anonymous tip line and callers with information leading to an arrest and conviction could be eligible for up to a $2,500 reward.
