Man dies in fire, funds being raised for survivor

ARARAT, VA – A person died in a December 5 house fire on Rave Rock Road in Ararat.

Crews were called to the fire at 7:29 a.m.

Tim Keith was airlifted to the North Carolina Wake Forest Burn Center and his father died in the blaze.

Volunteer fire department from Ararat, Stuart, CCDF, Meadows of Dan, Patrick Springs as well as the Ararat Volunteer Rescue Squad responded.

The Four Way Volunteer Fire Department and Laurel Fork Volunteer Fire Department from North Carolina assisted.

The official cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Patrick County EMS Coordinator Scottie Cassell told, our media partner, The Enterprise he believes it started in the area around the wood stove.

A GoFundMe has been created to help Keith.

According to the organizers, he lost his home, father, dogs and all belonging in the blaze.

The GoFundMe also said Keith “suffered severe burns to his body and is in rough shape.”
