HENRY COUNTY, VA – A man barricaded himself inside a home and threaten to kill deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office who were responding to a call of domestic assault.
On Saturday afternoon when deputies approached the home at 115 Lake Tree Drive, Richard Perry Swisher, 58, slammed the door shut.
When deputies tried to go inside, Swisher pulled out a machete and made threats to kill the deputies, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies say they tried to convince Swisher to exit the home, but he refused and stated he would kill anyone who came inside.
Negotiators were then called and they also made continuous attempts to get him to come out.
After over 3 hours, a tactical unit went inside and took Swisher into custody.
Richard Perry Swisher, of 115 Lake Tree Drive, was charged with domestic assault and battery, brandishing a bladed weapon with the intent to intimidate and obstruction of justice.
He is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
