A Roanoke man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred Wednesday, November 19, in the parking lot of the Walmart on Dale Avenue SE, according to the Roanoke Police Department.
Investigators say the incident began when the drivers of two vehicles became involved in an argument in the parking lot. During the altercation, one of the drivers allegedly fired shots at the other before both vehicles fled the scene.
As officers responded, dispatch received additional reports of a silver Honda sedan and a white Jeep chasing one another along Greenbrier Avenue SE. Police later located the Honda unoccupied after it crashed into a tree in the 1700 block of Greenbrier Avenue SE.
The driver was found nearby and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries resulting from the crash.
No injuries were reported from the shooting itself.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Stover of Roanoke, was taken into custody.
Stover is charged with shooting from a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting within city limits, reckless handling of a firearm, and hit and run.
Preliminary findings indicate that Stover and the other driver were acquainted and had an ongoing dispute prior to the incident.
