HENRY COUNTY, VA – A Henry County student died in an incident on Monday night.
The incident happened at 10:20 p.m. on Route 683, one tenth of a mile north of Route 859.
According to Virginia State Police, a 2001 Dodge Dakota was driving with two male high school students in the bed of the pick-up truck.
Police say one of the males fell from the back of the vehicle onto the roadway.
Henry County Public Schools confirmed that a Magna Vista High School student died Monday night and said counselors are at the school today.
The school district went on to say that a letter will be sent to parents today.
The male was identified as Logan Smith, 18, of Martinsville.
Smith died at the scene.
The other male juvenile in the rear of the vehicle was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
