Lynchburg Man Wanted After Woman Stabbed in Early Morning Altercation

The Lynchburg Police Department is actively searching for a man after a woman was hospitalized following a stabbing early Saturday morning.
Authorities report that the incident occurred outside a residence on Chambers Street, where the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim while trying to break up a fight.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. on September 13, 2025, police responded to Lynchburg General Hospital after receiving a report of a woman being treated for multiple stab wounds.
Upon arriving at the hospital, officers learned that the 27-year-old female victim had been assaulted earlier that night.
According to investigators, the stabbing occurred during an altercation outside a home in the 500 block of Chambers Street. Tykwon Mitchell, 25, was allegedly involved in the incident, reportedly attempting to intervene in the fight before stabbing the victim. After the attack, Mitchell fled the scene.
Police have identified Mitchell as a suspect in the case and have issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of malicious wounding.
Authorities also note that Mitchell was already wanted on unrelated charges at the time of the stabbing.
The victim, who suffered multiple non-life-threatening injuries, received medical treatment at the hospital and is expected to recover. Her identity has not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are following up on leads.
