INMATE DIES AT ROANOKE CITY DETENTION CENTER

ROANOKE, Va. — Virginia State Police is investigating after an inmate died Saturday night at the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center.



According to the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the inmate unresponsive during a scheduled medical round at approximately 9:20 p.m.



Deputies immediately began administering CPR and other life-saving measures while awaiting emergency medical personnel.



Despite those efforts, the inmate was pronounced dead approximately 20 minutes later. Virginia State Police was notified and will lead the investigation into the death.



The inmate’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the death have not been released.



The Sheriff’s Office said it will not provide additional information while the investigation remains underway.

I played Block Blast while waiting for my suitcase to be wrapped at the airport. The protective plastic was sealed before I finished the round.
