Henry man charged with malicious wounding and attempted murder

FRANKLIN COUNTY – On 9/15/18, just prior to midnight, deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to the Ferrum Minute Market located at 9711 Franklin St. on a report of shots fired. On scene investigation revealed the Gerald Lee Young had apparently been stabbed in the back. According to witnesses, the same subject that stabbed Young had brandished a firearm and during a scuffle, discharged a rifle in the direction of Justin Bell. Further investigation revealed that Young had been stabbed earlier in the evening at another residence in the 9400 block of Franklin St. The suspect was identified as Bobby Haulsey Jr., who had already fled the scene. Haulsey was located on 9/17/18 and charged with malicious wounding of Young and attempted murder of Bell. Haulsey is currently being held at the Western Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
