Henry County Manhunt Ends with Stabbing Suspect in Custody

AXTON, VA — May 17, 2025(BTW21) A stabbing incident in Henry County led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man on Saturday evening after an intensive search in a wooded area behind a residence on Birchwood Road.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1600 block of Birchwood Road in Axton.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they were informed that the victim had already been transported by a personal vehicle to seek medical treatment.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the victim was later airlifted to another medical facility for further care.
Deputies and investigators immediately secured the area and began processing the scene.
According to witnesses, an altercation had occurred outside the residence between two men. Evidence was collected, and witness statements were taken to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing.
To assist in the search for the suspect, K-9 Zajo was deployed and successfully located the suspect hiding in a wooded area behind the home.
The suspect, identified as Kenneth Uron Martin Jr., was taken into custody without incident.
Martin has been charged with Malicious Wounding and is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
