Henry County home heavily damaged in early morning blaze

HENRY COUNTY, VA – A Henry County home was heavily damaged during an early Wednesday morning blaze.

The Dyers Store Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were called to the 8700 block of A L Philpott Highway in Henry County at 1:10 a.m.

“The fire was in the roof when we pulled up in here, but you can tell it's a challenge to get up here,” Dyers Store Fire Chief Tommy Martin told BTW21 News at the scene.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire and had the blaze under control quickly.

We probably used 500 gallons of water. It looked like to me it was in the kitchen,” the fire chief stated.

While everything points that the fire started in the kitchen, no official cause has been determined.

No one was injured in the fire, Martin said.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the probable cause.

Assisting Dyers Store firefighters were Martinsville Fire & EMS and the Henry County Department of Public Safety.

The Martinsville Police Department and Henry County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene
