MARTINSVILLE, VA – Dr. Sheranda Gunn-Nolan will be appointed Chief Medical Officer for Sovah Health effective July 27.
As CMO, Dr. Gunn-Nolan will lead the medical staff and work across both campuses with efforts focused on improving and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care, Sovah Health says.

Dr. Gunn-Nolan has been a leader in Danville’s COVID-19 unit as being the first physician to take care of patients with the virus and helping establish protocols for safety of employees, physicians, and patients.
The hospital says for the last several years, she has worked to improve patient care initiatives, safety initiatives, quality initiatives, sepsis, central line infections CAUTI, HAUTI, and many others.
Dr. Gunn-Nolan is board certified in Internal Medicine and has practiced at Sovah Health for 8 years.
She earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwannee, GA, completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Sovah Health in Danville, and an executive Fellowship in Physician Leadership at Duke/Lifepoint Physician Leadership Institute with CTI in Durham, NC.
In addition to her new role, Dr. Gunn-Nolan will continue as Hospitalist Program Director and Physician for the Danville campus and care for patients that need acute care services.
