HENRY COUNTY, VA – Each year, band students from the local district tryout in December to be a part of the All District Band.
Henry County Public Schools had over 40 students represented this year.
The top students from the district honor bands from across Virginia are selected to audition at James Madison University in February and, from those students, the very best were to perform in Richmond in April.
Fabiola Vazquez and Evan Joyce from Bassett High School and Dakota Sports and Dylan Royal from Magna Vista High School qualified for the All Virginia Band this year.
Dakota Sports, was selected as a member of the concert band on trumpet, and Dylan Royal was named to the symphonic band on baritone saxophone.
Dylan received the highest score on his instrument in the entire state.
Fabiola Vasquez was selected as a member of the concert band on clarinet, and Evan Joyce was selected as a member of the concert band on french horn.
