ROANOKE, Va. (BTW21)— A Roanoke man previously arrested for child pornography is now facing additional charges following a recent indictment, according to local authorities.
The Roanoke Police Department’s Special Victims Unit announced that 28-year-old Logan Michael Spencer was arrested Tuesday and is now facing three new felony charges, adding to his prior legal troubles.
Spencer is now charged with:
One count of possession of obscene material with a minor
Two additional counts of possession of child pornography
These new charges come after an earlier arrest in which Spencer was charged with knowingly possessing child pornography, following a tip received by the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The initial investigation led to a coordinated search of a residence in the 2500 block of Weaver Road SW on February 24, 2025. The search was conducted jointly by the Roanoke Police Department, Virginia State Police, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
All charges against Spencer fall under Virginia Code 18.2-374.1:1, which pertains to the possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography—each a felony under state law.
Spencer has past professional ties to the community. Mark Johnson, President and CEO of the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge, confirmed that Spencer was formerly employed by the YMCA. Additionally, the Roanoke Police Department disclosed that Spencer also worked as a dispatcher with Roanoke County’s Emergency Communications Center.
This is a developing story. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Roanoke Police Department.
